eyes

her eyes,
met his’,
and looked away,
but in that instant,
told stories untold,
that they had been thinking,
about him,
his routine, his work, his happenings,
and the soul searching he did,
her eyes,
met his’.
his eyes,
met her’s,
and nonchalantly,
looked away,
they held nothing that they once held,
care, nourishment, softness and love
for her,
neither recognition.
but indifference? yes!
his eyes,
met her’s.
their eyes met each others,
her’s; a demand to be understood.
his’; a portrayal of her betrayal.
each spoke of the time they once shared,
and cherished
until she had wavered,
and so their eyes… steered away
