severus003 I, would have understood

You should have told me,
Long lost ago,
It wouldn’t have mattered then,
It doesn’t matter now,
I,
Would have understood.
Clinquant as you seemed,
I had your under-skin deciphered,
Troublesome times;
And so I sought to extract,
What bothered and worried you,
Perennial pain,
infinite ache.
Secretive trips to the doctor,
Occasional visits to the hospital,
Frequent intake of medicine,
Routine absence of laughter,
I,
Would have understood.
Thousand years later,
You told me of your fears,
You laid me out your plans,
Elaborated your dears,
I,
Soon witnessed your tears.
Took you by surprise didn’t it,
The way I cared,
That humans too could understand,
Ever,
The way I repaired,
You, yourself, your soul.
Imminent doesn’t bother me,
Your state doesn’t either,
Graying hairs don’t matter,
Neither does your cancer,
For I too,
Am one, have one.
All along,
Would I, have understood.
